Oxymark CD is analgesic/antipyretic combination and works by decreasing pain in the brain and nervous system. It is used for mild to moderate pain including headache, migraine, nerve pain, toothache, sore throat, period pains and general aches and pains. It is also used to relieve the symptoms of cold and flu.
Take Oxymark CD by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation. The recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets every 4 hours as needed. If you have been taking Oxymark CD regularly or for longer than a few weeks, do not suddenly stop taking it without checking with your doctor as he may need to lower your dose gradually.
This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Avoid alcoholic beverages.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. Do not use Oxymark CD if you are allergic to Paracetamol or Codeine. Codeine sulfate is contraindicated in patients with respiratory depression in the absence of resuscitative equipment, acute or severe bronchial asthma or hypercarbia, a certain bowel disease (paralytic ileus), severe infectious diarrhea (e.g., Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea).
Possible side effect
The most common side effects are difficult or troubled breathing; pale or blue lips, fingernails or skin; shortness of breath; blood in the urine or stools; cough or hoarseness; difficulty with swallowing; dizziness; fast heartbeat; fever with or without chills; general feeling of tiredness or weakness; hives; itching; painful or difficult urination; red spots on the skin; puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes; face, lips, or tongue skin rash; sore throat; tightness in the chest; unusual bleeding or bruising.
The medications that may interact with Oxymark CD are barbiturates (sleeping tablets), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline), colestyramine, warfarin, zidovudine, domperidone and metoclopramide, anticholinergic drugs (e.g., scopolamine), other medications for pain (e.g., butorphanol/nalbuphine), quinidine, cimetidine, anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., hydrocodone), psychiatric medicines (e.g., chlorpromazine, risperidone, amitriptyline, trazodone).
If you miss a dose of Oxymark CD and you are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. Overdose symptoms may include abdominal or stomach pain, bloody or cloudy urine chills constricted, convulsions, dark urine, increased sweating, light-colored stools, loss of consciousness, nausea, sudden decrease in amount of urine, unpleasant breath, odor, vomiting, yellow eyes or skin.
Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing and out of the reach of children.
